Church Administrator (Part-Time)

16 hours per week | £10,800 per annum | 12-month fixed-term contract (with the possibility of extension)

Are you an organised, welcoming and committed Christian who enjoys serving others behind the scenes? St James Fletchamstead is looking for a Church Administrator to play a key role in supporting the life and ministry of our church.

St James is a welcoming, culturally diverse evangelical church with members from many different nations. We are passionate about knowing God's presence through worship, prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit, while sharing the love of Christ with our local community. We are also excited to be growing in partnership with The Bridge Benefice, working alongside St John's, Westwood, and St Stephen's, Canley, as we strengthen our shared mission together.

About the Role

As our Church Administrator, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of church life. Working closely with the clergy, volunteers and leadership team, you'll support a wide range of activities including:

  • Office administration and communications

  • Managing the church diary and hall bookings

  • Preparing newsletters, service materials and weekly notices

  • Maintaining the church website and social media

  • Supporting PCC administration and governance

  • Assisting with baptisms, weddings and funerals

  • Supporting safeguarding administration and church records

This varied role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, has excellent communication skills, enjoys working with people, and is able to manage multiple priorities with care and discretion.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is a practising Christian committed to the mission and values of St James.

  • Ideally has previous administrative experience.

  • Is confident using Microsoft Office, email and digital communication platforms.

  • Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.

  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Is warm, approachable and enjoys serving people.

The successful applicant will be a regular worshipper at St James Church and will attend the Bridge Benefice office at least once a week to work collaboratively with the wider administrative team. A satisfactory DBS check and completion of Church of England safeguarding training will be required.

Salary & Hours

  • 16 hours per week

  • £10,800 per year (pro-rata of £20,250)

  • 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension

  • Based at St James Church Office, Coventry
